Dr. Qianru (Sally) Jia is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University of Texas at Arlington. She earned her B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Purdue University (2017), and her M.S. and Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin (2019, 2023), where she worked with Prof. Li Shi. Prior to joining UTA, she was a postdoctoral researcher at the University of California, Berkeley, working with Prof. Chris Dames.
Dr. Jia’s interdisciplinary research spans nanoscale heat transfer, thermal science, advanced materials, and semiconductor technology, with applications in microelectronics and energy systems. Recognized for her contributions, she was awarded the prestigious University Graduate Continuing Fellowship (2022–2023) and Thrust Fellowship (2017–2021) at UT Austin, as well as the “Best Presentation” award at ASME IMECE 2024. Her work has been published in leading journals, including Advanced Functional Materials, International Journal of Heat and Mass Transfer and Journal of Materials Chemistry A.
